  • jigger
  • - Spoon
  • cookie cutter

Ingredients

For the Cocktail

  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth Provides sweetness and depth; other fortified wines can be used but may alter the flavor profile.
  • 3/4 oz Campari Contributes bitterness and color; Aperol can be a milder alternative if desired.
  • 3 oz Champagne or Club Soda Adds effervescence and lightness; champagne offers a more decadent option.
  • Ice Essential for chilling the drink.
  • 1 Pastis Adds anise flavor; substitute with absinthe for a more potent taste.

For the Garnish

  • 1 inch Orange Peel Used for garnish; a lemon peel can provide a brighter alternative.

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Start by rinsing a rocks glass with Pastis. Pour a small amount in, swirl it around to coat the interior, and then pour out the excess.
  • Fill the prepared glass with ice cubes, allowing them to chill while you mix the ingredients.
  • Measure and add 1 oz. of sweet vermouth to the glass.
  • Combine 3/4 oz. of Campari to the glass.
  • Gently pour in 3 oz. of champagne or club soda over the mixture.
  • Use a 1-inch cookie cutter to cut a heart shape from an orange peel and place it on top of the cocktail.

Notes

Optional: Serve with light appetizers like bruschetta for the perfect cocktail hour pairing. Tailor the ratios of sweet vermouth and Campari to your preference.
