Ice Cream Base

  • 3 cups sliced fresh peaches Natural sweetness and fruity flavor
  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice Brightens sweetness and flavor
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Divided; adjust for preferred sweetness
  • 1 cup whole milk Can use low-fat milk for lighter version
  • 2 cups heavy cream Adds rich texture
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Enhances peach essence

Optional Enhancements

  • additional fresh peaches For mixing in; adds texture
  • brandy or bourbon For added depth and flavor

Preparation

  • Chill the freezer bowl in the freezer for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  • Mix sliced peaches with lemon juice and 1/2 cup sugar; let sit for 2 hours, then strain and puree half.
  • Beat remaining sugar into whole milk until dissolved, then stir in heavy cream, reserved peach juices, half of mashed peaches, and vanilla. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours.
  • Churn mixture in the Cuisinart bowl for 20-25 minutes. Add remaining mashed peaches in last 5 minutes.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Garnish with fresh peach slices or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
