  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and confectioners sugar.
  • Using a mixer, beat the softened butter with granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract and egg to the butter mixture, mixing until combined.
  • Gently fold in the dry mixture until just combined.
  • Shape the dough into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and roll out the dough to 1/8-inch thickness.
  • Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to create cookies.
  • Chill the cookies again for 5 minutes on baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool cookies on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  • Warm the strawberry jam in a saucepan until spreadable.
  • Spread jam on whole cookies and top with cutout cookies.

Notes

Dust with additional confectioners sugar before serving for a lovely touch.
