  • 1 stick Butter Softened for frosting.
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar Reduce for less sweetness.
  • Food Coloring Pink and Red for festive colors.
  • Sprinkles Use festive varieties for decoration.

Cookie Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to form a soft dough.

Chilling and Baking

  • Gather the dough into a ball, divide it into two discs, and wrap each in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thick and cut with a heart-shaped cookie cutter, transferring to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Freeze cut-outs for about 10 minutes to maintain shape while baking.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just turning golden. Let cool before transferring to a wire rack.

Frosting and Decorating

  • In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter together until fluffy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy. Add food coloring to achieve desired shades.
  • Frost cooled cookies with buttercream and add sprinkles for decoration.
