How to Make Irish Soda Bread

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 10” cast-iron skillet with butter.
  • Whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl.
  • Cut the butter into small pieces and blend until crumbly. Stir in raisins if using.
  • In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk and egg together, then pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
