Ingredients

For the Jam

  • 2 cups Mulberry/Shahtoot Use fresh berries for the best flavor and vibrant color.
  • 2-3 tbsp Honey Substitute with maple syrup for a vegan version or adjust sugar for sweetness.
  • 1-2 tbsp Water Helps to create the right consistency while cooking and prevents sticking.
  • 2 tbsp Chia Seeds They not only thicken the jam but also add a healthy source of fiber and omega-3s.

Instructions

How to Make Mulberry Jam

  • Rinse the mulberries under cool water, gently removing any dirt or debris. Carefully pluck off the green stems to ensure you have only the juicy fruit.
  • In a thick-bottomed pan, mix the cleaned mulberries with honey and a splash of water. Cook on medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is soft and mushy.
  • Once the mulberries are softened, stir in the chia seeds. Continue cooking for another 10-15 minutes, keeping an eye on the consistency; add a tablespoon or two of water if the mixture gets too thick. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  • Allow the jam to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to an airtight jar and store it in the refrigerator. Enjoy your homemade jam for up to two weeks!

Notes

Serve over warm scones for a delightful breakfast treat. Allow the jam to cool completely before sealing and storing.
