  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder Essential for achieving perfect texture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter Ensure softened for best mixing.

For the Royal Icing

  • 2 cups Royal Icing Sugar For decorating.
  • 1/4 cup Room Temperature Water Mix with icing sugar for consistency.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixer, cream softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, mixing well, then incorporate the egg and vanilla until fully combined.
  • Slowly add the dry mixture, blending until the dough is uniform.

Chill Dough

  • Divide the dough in half and roll it out between parchment paper to about 5mm thick. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours.

Bake

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the chilled dough.
  • Place them on lined baking trays and bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.

Prepare Royal Icing

  • In a bowl, combine royal icing sugar with room temperature water until smooth (10-12 seconds when lifted).

Decorate Cookies

  • Outline each cookie with royal icing and let it set for a few minutes. Flood the center with additional icing and smooth it out if necessary.
  • Allow decorated cookies to dry completely.

Notes

For added flair, sprinkle edible glitter on the icing. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 7 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.
