Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer
  • Bread pans
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

For the Batter

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3-4 medium bananas or 2 large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

How to Make Banana Bread

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two 8x4 bread pans with parchment paper or generously grease them with butter or baking spray.
  • Mash the bananas in a medium-sized bowl until they are smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together in a separate bowl using a hand mixer or stand mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Incorporate the mashed bananas and vanilla extract, mixing until evenly distributed.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared bread pans. Smooth the tops and bake for about 35-40 minutes.
  • Cool the banana bread in the pans for about 5-10 minutes, then remove the loaves and allow them to continue cooling on a wire rack.

Notes

Optional: Serve with a spread of butter or cream cheese for an extra treat. Use overly ripe bananas for better sweetness and avoid overmixing to prevent dense bread.
