How to Make French Toast Casserole

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, pure vanilla extract, and kosher salt until smooth and creamy.
  • Dip each slice of white bread into the custard, ensuring each side is coated for about 4 seconds. Layer the soaked bread in a greased 13" x 9" baking dish.
  • Pour any remaining custard over the arranged bread slices. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Uncover the dish, sprinkle sliced almonds over the top, and bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Dust with confectioners' sugar and add fresh berries if desired.
