Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 4 cups Whole Milk can substitute with almond milk
  • 1 cup Vegetable Oil melted coconut oil can be used
  • 1 cup Sugar using brown sugar deepens flavor
  • 2 packets Active Dry Yeast instant yeast works without pre-activation
  • 8 cups All-Purpose Flour can be swapped with gluten-free flour blend
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder important for rising
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda essential for lighter rolls
  • 1 tsp Salt no substitutes

For the Filling

  • 3/4 cup Melted Salted Butter unsalted can be used with a pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp Ground Cinnamon adjust to taste

For the Frosting

  • 3 cups Powdered Sugar can substitute with stevia
  • 1 tsp Maple Flavoring vanilla extract as a substitute
  • 1/4 cup Whole Milk additional milk may be needed for texture
  • 1/2 cup Strongly Brewed Coffee can replace with water or milk

Instructions
 

Preparing the Cinnamon Rolls

  • In a pan, scald the whole milk, then mix in vegetable oil and sugar. Let cool for 45 minutes before sprinkling in active dry yeast.
  • Once the yeast is activated, stir in all-purpose flour and cover. Allow the mixture to sit for 1 hour to rise.
  • Mix in additional flour along with baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in size.
  • On a floured surface, roll out half the dough into a thin rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough tightly and seal the edge.
  • Slice the rolled dough into 3/4 to 1-inch thick pieces and place in buttered pans.
  • Allow the rolled pieces to rise for 20-30 minutes before baking.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes.
  • In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple flavoring, milk, coffee, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  • Drizzle the warm frosting over the rolls right after baking.

Notes

Best served warm, optional to top with chopped nuts for added crunch.
