Instructions
Preparing the Cinnamon Rolls
In a pan, scald the whole milk, then mix in vegetable oil and sugar. Let cool for 45 minutes before sprinkling in active dry yeast.
Once the yeast is activated, stir in all-purpose flour and cover. Allow the mixture to sit for 1 hour to rise.
Mix in additional flour along with baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in size.
On a floured surface, roll out half the dough into a thin rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
Spread melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough tightly and seal the edge.
Slice the rolled dough into 3/4 to 1-inch thick pieces and place in buttered pans.
Allow the rolled pieces to rise for 20-30 minutes before baking.
Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes.
In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple flavoring, milk, coffee, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
Drizzle the warm frosting over the rolls right after baking.
Notes
Best served warm, optional to top with chopped nuts for added crunch.
