  • 6 large Granny Smith Apples Honeycrisp or Fuji can be used as alternatives
  • 6 Wooden Sticks Essential for dipping

For the Candy Coating

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar Main sweetener
  • 1 cup Light Corn Syrup Prevents crystallization
  • 1 cup Water For dissolving sugar
  • a few drops Red Food Coloring For color

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spray it lightly with cooking spray.
  • Wash and dry the Granny Smith apples thoroughly, then insert wooden sticks firmly into the tops.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, mix together the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, water, and red food coloring.
  • Heat the mixture over medium-high heat without stirring until it reaches 285°F.
  • Carefully dip each apple into the hot syrup, then allow excess syrup to drip off.

Setting

  • Let the dipped apples sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes until the candy coating hardens.
