  • 1 pound medium-sized shrimp raw with shells or pre-cooked

For the Marie Rose Sauce

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1 cup lettuce iceberg or romaine
  • 2 pieces lemon wedges for garnish

  • Prepare the shrimp: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the shrimp and cook until bright pink and curled in a loose 'C' shape, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and chill in ice water until cold.
  • Make the Marie Rose sauce: In a small bowl, combine ketchup, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly blended for a creamy consistency.
  • Combine shrimp and sauce: Gently fold the chilled shrimp into the Marie Rose sauce, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  • Assemble the dish: On a serving platter or individual dishes, lay down a bed of lettuce leaves. Top with the shrimp mixture.
  • Garnish and serve: Finish with lemon wedges and a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Optional: Serve with crusty baguette slices for an extra touch.
