For the Filling

  • 6 large eggs Make sure they’re fresh for the best flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise This gives the filling its creamy texture; feel free to use Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • 1.5 teaspoons yellow mustard Adds a tangy flavor that perfectly complements the eggs.
  • 2 dashes vinegar-based hot sauce A little spice to make the flavor pop, adjust based on your heat preference.
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances the depth of flavor; you can also use fresh garlic for a stronger kick.
  • 1.5 tablespoons pickle relish (sweet or dill) Sweet relish adds a nice contrast, while dill brings a savory punch.
  • salt Essential for balancing the flavors; adjust to your taste.
  • pepper Freshly ground pepper adds a delightful bite.
  • paprika (optional) A sprinkle on top not only enhances flavor but also adds a beautiful color contrast.

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Steam the eggs! For easy-to-peel eggs, steam them instead of boiling. Fill a medium saucepan with 1/2 inch of water, add a steamer basket, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, turn off the heat, add the eggs, cover, and allow them to steam for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool instantly in an ice bath.
  • Slice the eggs! Once cooled, peel each egg and slice them in half lengthwise. Gently scoop out the yolks and place them in a small mixing bowl.
  • Mash the yolks! Use a fork to mash the yolks into a smooth consistency.
  • Mix the filling! Combine the mashed yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, hot sauce, and garlic powder. Mix well until smooth, then add in the pickle relish, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Fill the whites! Spoon the creamy mixture back into the egg whites, filling each half generously.
  • Garnish your eggs! For an optional sprinkle of flair, garnish with paprika or freshly cracked pepper on top.
