  • Preheat Oven & Prepare Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease your cake pans with cooking spray and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and kosher salt until well combined.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: Beat unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Add vegetable oil and mix in egg whites one at a time.
  • Incorporate Dry Ingredients and Milk: Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with whole milk and cooled strawberry puree. Avoid overmixing.
  • Bake: Divide the batter evenly between pans. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool Cakes: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans on a wire rack before removing them.
  • Make Frosting: Sift together confectioners' sugar and freeze-dried strawberries. Combine with cream cheese and unsalted butter, beating until smooth.
  • Frost Cake: Level the cooled cakes if needed, then frost with prepared frosting.
