Ingredients
  

For the Casserole

  • 1 pound Ground Beef can substitute with ground turkey
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce canned or homemade
  • 2 cups Broccoli Florets fresh or frozen
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese finely grated
  • 1 cup Celery diced
  • 1 teaspoon Table Salt adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder or fresh minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cayenne reduce or omit for milder flavor

Optional Toppings

  • 1 cup Avocado sliced
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Microwave the broccoli florets until tender, about 3-4 minutes, then drain and let steam off.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 7-10 minutes. Add tomato sauce, celery, salt, garlic powder, and cayenne; simmer for 10 minutes.
  • In an 8x8 inch baking dish, mix cooked broccoli with the beef mixture. Stir in half of the cheddar cheese, then top with remaining cheddar and parmesan.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown. Allow resting for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use pre-chopped veggies and canned tomato sauce to speed up preparation. Ensure to drain ingredients well to avoid a watery casserole.
