Old Fashioned Easy Apple Crisp

A cozy, classic dessert with spiced apples and a golden oat topping—just like grandma used to make!

Equipment

  • - 8×8 baking dish
  • - Pastry cutter
  • Mixing bowls
  • - Vegetable peeler

Ingredients
  

  • - 6 golden delicious apples peeled and chopped
  • - 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • - ¾ tsp ground cinnamon
  • - 1½ tsp lemon juice
  • **For the topping:**
  • - 1 cup light brown sugar
  • - ¾ cup old-fashioned oats
  • - ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • - 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • - Pinch of kosher salt
  • - ½ cup cold unsalted butter diced

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter an 8×8-inch dish.
  • In a bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Add to dish.
  • Mix brown sugar, oats, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Spread topping over apples.
  • Bake 40–50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

- Use any apple variety you love
- To reduce liquid, add 1 Tbsp flour to the apple mixture
- Can be baked ahead and reheated
