Ingredients
  

For the Tea Base

  • 3 bags family-sized black tea Use for a strong brew.
  • 4 cups water Use fresh, filtered water.

For Sweetening

  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust to taste.

  • Fresh mint leaves or lemon slices Optional garnishes.

Preparation Steps

  • Boil Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove the pot from the heat source to prevent overcooking.
  • Steep Tea: Dunk the tea bags a few times in the hot water to hydrate them fully. Let them steep in the water for about 5 minutes, then remove and discard the bags.
  • Add Sugar: Stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar while the tea is still warm, ensuring it fully dissolves.
  • Combine: Pour the tea base into a 1-gallon pitcher.
  • Dilute: Add 3 more quarts of water to the tea base, stirring well to combine.
  • Chill: Refrigerate your sweet tea for at least 4 hours or ideally overnight.
  • Serve: Pour the sweet tea into glasses filled with ice and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of lemon if desired.

Notes

Customize flavors with mint, lemon, or peach slices. Store in an airtight pitcher in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze in ice cube trays for up to 3 months.
