  • 200 grams pork belly or chicken, can substitute with tofu or mushrooms
  • 3 cloves garlic fresh, minced
  • 2 pieces dried red chilies adjust for heat preference
  • 400 grams cabbage hand-shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium if desired
  • 1 teaspoon sugar adjust according to taste
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese black vinegar or balsamic vinegar
  • 2 pieces scallions sliced

How to Make Cabbage Stir Fry Recipe

  • Begin by heating oil in a wok over high heat until it shimmers.
  • Add the pork belly (or chicken) to the hot wok and sear until caramelized, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the garlic and dried red chilies, lowering the heat to medium. Cook for 1 minute, stirring gently.
  • Toss in the shredded cabbage along with Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, sugar, and water. Cover and steam for 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and mix in Chinese black vinegar and sliced scallions. Adjust salt to taste.
  • Dish out your stir-fry while it’s hot over steaming rice or on its own.

Notes

Optional: Drizzle with sesame oil for an extra layer of flavor.
